The Bihar state urban development and housing department got CM Nitish Kumar's nod to draft the rules for the Bihar Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2017 at a review meeting of the urban development and housing department at the CM secretariat on Wednesday. He asked the department to present the draft rules before the state cabinet so that it can be notified before April 30th, 2017.
Following the RERA rules prescribed by the central government, the Bihar RERA rules will govern all the new and on-going projects consisting of eight or more flats for which the completion certificate is not issued. Also, the rules prescribe that apartment will be sold on the basis of the carpet area instead of super built-up area.
Nitish Kumar also directed the state housing department to set up an urban engineering organization and advised the Patna municipal commissioner to make tax assessments on the basis of utilisation of the properties.
According to the urban development and housing minister of Bihar Mr. Maheshwar Hazari, total 577 engineers will be recruited at the headquarters level for the cell who will work for the urban local bodies across the state. He also affirmed that the cell will make the urban local bodies more efficient to execute civic works.
