Known as the game-changing reform in the Indian real estate sector, the Haryana government has notified the Real Estate (Regulation & Development) Act (RERA) but failed to set up the regulatory authority for the same. According to the sources, CM Manohar Lal Khattar promised to make RERA authority functional by the end of October after home buyers protested in front of him in a meeting held in Gurgaon. The CM also announced to open RERA office in Gurugram, Chandigarh and Panchkula. Apparently, the Haryana RERA has not been in place yet, contrary to the CM’s assurance and promises.
A senior official requesting anonymity told reporters that the interviews are going on and the authority will be functional by November end. When asked about the Haryana RERA website, the official said that once the RERA authority will be in place, the government will launch the official website for Haryana RERA.
As of now, the state government has received almost 600 applications for RERA registration of projects and out of these 338 projects has got the RERA registration certificate. The real estate agents are also showing interest in Haryana RERA. Till now, more than 570 agents have applied for the registration with RERA and 540 have got the RERA registration certificates.
