Mr. Rajeev Chawla, Additional Chief Secretary of Karnataka Housing Department got transferred on Thursday, a few days ahead of final notification of the RERA rules. Mr. Chawla took the charge on March, 3rd 2017 and was actively working for the implementation of the RERA in the state. Now, Mr. Kapil Mohan has been appointed in his place. According to RERA activists, the sudden transfer of Mr. Rajeev Chawla will create a vacuum for the interim regulatory authority post. This may also result in the delay of the implementation of the RERA Karnataka rules.
According to Housing Minister, Mr. M.Krishnappa, the transfer was only a routine affair.
The Real Estate (Regulation & Development) Act , RERA came into force on 1st May 2016. The Central government has directed all the states to implement the RERA rules by 30th April 2017.
